Whitepaper: Exploring current thinking on Passivhaus

As advocates of the hot topic of Passivhaus, LAMILUX were eager to sponsor the whitepaper: Exploring current thinking on Passivhaus which was researched by ADF, working with edge insight back in 2021. Their audience of architects where asked to provide some insights into the current takeup and ongoing design challenges of passivhaus. Now, 2 years later, with many local authorities embracing the Passivhaus international building standard in their policies, we want to share this document with you

A true masterpiece of sustainability and design

A stunning Glass Roof PR60 measuring an incredible 44 metres long and 9 metres wide, as well as three other Glass Roofs PR60, were installed at the new £65 million, Science, Engineering and Environmental Building (SEE Building) at the University of Salford.

What makes this project special?

Designed under the concept of incorporating high sustainability credentials which supports the university’s pledge in reducing the environmental impact, as part of the wider Salford Crescent and University District masterplan.

The largest rooflight was glazed with an impressive total of 120 fixed glass panels.

Specified with Class 1 Fragility, suitable for walking on for cleaning and maintenance loads, according to CWCT TN 66 /TN 67 & TN92.

Extensive water tightness testing was carried out where CWCT hose tests were passed successfully, as testament to the quality and durability of the installation led by the LAMILUX installation team.

Integrated ventilation panels were installed within the three smaller PR60 Glass Rooflights to provide the ideal solution to provide natural ventilation.

To avoid overheating and glare inside the building, special 60/30 high performing solar glazing was used.

When asked, Daniel said "I am really pleased to announce that I am now a Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson, having passed the examination after completing the course by Coaction Training (formerly Carbonlite). Review of a successful business year

The LAMILUX Group looks back at a successful and at the same time challenging year: Despite political, macroeconomic and social challenges, the Rehau-based family business was able to generate a solid result in the past year 2022 and increase its turnover by 17 percent to 392 million euros compared to the previous year. LAMILUX also recorded an increase in the number of employees: more than 1,300 employees, including 96 trainees, are responsible for the success of the family-owned company. LAMILUX thus achieved the highest turnover and the highest number of employees since its foundation in 1909. Further milestones for LAMILUX in the past year were again numerous awards as well as product launches.
